One Piece TCG Market Watch — September 2026: The Rally Ended, and OP-17 Singles Gave Back 43% in a Week

One Piece TCG market data for September 2026: the Cardlogs index turned negative on two of three sources, OP-17 singles fell a median 42.9%, and the typical card is down 4.9%.

The One Piece TCG market turned negative in the 30 days to August 31, 2026 — the Cardlogs index fell 1.4% on TCGplayer and 5.6% on eBay sold prices, with only Cardmarket still positive at +2.6%. That is the first sold-price decline since this series began on May 28, and it is exactly the event last month's edition named as the signal to watch.

This is the third edition of the Cardlogs One Piece Market Watch. It is also the first that can grade its own predecessor: August made three dated, falsifiable calls, and all three have now resolved. Two were right, one was wrong, and the wrong one is the most useful thing in this report.

The five most expensive corroborated One Piece TCG cards with card art and prices, September 2026
The most expensive One Piece cards with corroborated prices — TCGplayer market price, September 1, 2026. Data: Cardlogs.

How did the One Piece TCG market perform in August 2026?

It stopped, then went backwards on two of three sources. According to Cardlogs market data, the One Piece TCG Market Cap Index fell 1.4% on TCGplayer and 5.6% on eBay sold prices and rose 2.6% on Cardmarket in the 30 days to August 31, 2026. Every 7-day read is negative. All figures as of August 31, 2026:

Source Market cap Cards counted 30-day index 7-day index Index level
TCGplayer (USD) $653,271 7,036 −1.4% −0.4% 127.95
Cardmarket (EUR) €927,532 12,034 +2.6% −0.2% 129.14
eBay sold (USD) $771,862 8,319 −5.6% −1.7% 113.66

Index base 100 on May 28, 2026. The Cardlogs Market Cap Index is chain-linked — each day's change is computed only on cards priced on both days, so new releases expand the cap but never count as price growth. That matters this month: OP-17 arriving with 245 tracked rows cannot lift the index, because a card with no price yesterday has no pair today.

The ordering flipped completely. In August, eBay sold prices led at +10.4% while TCGplayer trailed at +3.8%; the eBay leg is now the worst of the three at −5.6%, and its index level fell from 120.11 to 113.66. Sold prices led this market up and they are leading it back down. Cardmarket is the last positive source, and its 7-day read has already gone negative too.

Is the One Piece market actually falling, or is it just not trading?

Both, and the distinction is the whole story. Across 2,946 One Piece cards priced above $1 with a 30-day TCGplayer delta, the median card fell 4.90% while the mean rose 3.51%. That gap is not noise — it is a handful of large gainers carrying an average over a body of cards that mostly fell. As of August 31, 2026:

Price band Cards Median 30-day Share up Share unchanged
All ≥ $1 2,946 −4.90% 30.3% 8.2%
≥ $100 490 0.00% 29.8% 32.4%
≥ $500 209 0.00% 25.4% 55.5%
≥ $1,000 109 0.00% 22.0% 65.1%

Read the last column. The more expensive the card, the more likely its price simply did not move: 65.1% of One Piece cards above $1,000 printed exactly 0.00% over 30 days. According to Cardlogs market data, only 53 One Piece cards priced above $100 gained 25% or more in the 30 days to August 31, 2026 — out of 490 in that band.

So the top of this market is not falling. It is frozen, which is what a market looks like when sellers stop cutting and buyers stop lifting. The decline is concentrated in the affordable tier, where OP-17 supply just landed.

A worked example of why medians beat averages here: the Anime 25th Collection SP tier looks like a rally if you read the gainer lists — Foxy +73.6%, Monkey.D.Dragon +33.1%, Rob Lucci +33.0%, Belo Betty +28.1%. Pull all 26 SPs in that set and the tier's median 30-day move is exactly 0.00%, with 12 cards completely flat and 4 down. Four cards did all the visible work. Nothing tier-wide happened.

What happened to OP-17 prices after release?

The preorder premium came off, hard. OP-17 (The World's Strongest Warriors) hit street date on August 28, 2026. According to Cardlogs market data, the median OP-17 single fell 42.9% in the seven days to August 31, 2026, with 187 of 213 cards carrying a 7-day delta in the red and only 15 up.

The Cardlogs board now covers 245 OP-17 rows: 237 priced on TCGplayer, 239 on Cardmarket, 24 with an eBay sold price. The median TCG-priced OP-17 card is $1.83.

Two traceable arcs, straight from our nightly price log:

Card Aug 22 Aug 24 Aug 31 Change
Kaido (OP17-062) Alt Art $79.74 $34.97 $20.00 −74.9%
Shiki (OP17-048) $8.59 $5.47 $3.77 −56.1%

This is the normal shape of a set release, not a crash: preorder pricing is a thin market of people who cannot wait, and it reprices the moment boxes open. The useful question is where the floor lands, not that it fell.

The top of the set went the other way. On street date, OP-17's Manga tier priced on Cardmarket only. Four days later it has legs on multiple venues, and the set's headline Leader finally has a number:

Card TCGplayer Cardmarket eBay sold
Shanks (OP17-022) Manga $1,499.99 €2,600.00 $1,400.00
Kaido (OP17-062) Manga $1,234.04 €1,058.33
Monkey.D.Luffy (OP17-079) Manga Leader €2,371.42
Charlotte Linlin (OP17-112) Manga €950.00
Edward.Newgate (OP17-005) Manga

The Manga Luffy Leader getting its first price anywhere — €2,371.42 on Cardmarket — is the beat we said to watch on street date. Note what it is not: a single European listing, with no US ask and no sale behind it. Treat it as the first data point, not a valuation.

Shanks (OP17-022) is the more interesting row. Its Cardmarket price rose from €1,500 on street date to €2,600 now (+73.3%), while its eBay sold price fell from $2,358 to $1,400 (−40.6%). Europe and the US are pricing the set's chase card at a 2.0x difference in opposite directions four days after release. We rank it on the eBay leg, which sits within 7% of the TCGplayer ask.

One coverage gap, stated plainly: OP-17's Treasure Rare — the Edward.Newgate (OP17-040) parallel — trades in the wild and PriceCharting tracks a page for it, but it has no row in the Cardlogs catalog. We carry the base and alternate-art OP17-040 prints and zero Treasure Rare rows for any One Piece set. That is a gap on our side, not an absent market, and we are not quoting a price we cannot source.

Which One Piece cards are the most expensive right now?

Corroboration-screened, as every ranked table in this series is: a card holds a slot only when Cardmarket (converted at the day's ECB rate, $1 = €0.86237) or the eBay sold median lands within 30% of its TCGplayer price. All prices as of September 1, 2026:

# Card Set Rarity TCGplayer Cardmarket eBay sold PSA 10
1= Monkey.D.Luffy ST01-001 (Serial) Special Tournament Promos AA $19,999 €6,606 $17,700 $61,852
1= Monkey.D.Luffy (118) Red Super Alt Art Carrying on His Will Manga $19,999 €23,228 $17,764 $32,224
3 Monkey.D.Luffy (119) SP Gold A Fist of Divine Speed SP $13,000 €7,510 $9,100 $17,957
4 Portgas.D.Ace (Serial Numbered) Special Tournament Promos SEC $9,950 €5,651 $8,050 $10,191
5 Monkey.D.Luffy (Red Bull Double Don!!) Misc Championship 2026 SR $8,899 $8,000 $17,400

The top two are tied at exactly $19,999 and neither moved a cent in 30 days.

Cards that failed the screen and are therefore not ranked, with their gaps:

Card TCGplayer ask Cardmarket (USD) eBay sold Verdict
Roronoa Zoro (Serial Numbered) $35,101 $69,576 (1.98x) none no sale, 2x venue gap
Monkey.D.Luffy (ST10-006) $12,000 $3,969 (0.33x) $3,359 (0.28x) ask 3x both venues
Kaido (Treasure Cup) $9,999.99 $1,894 (0.19x) $1,740 (0.17x) ask 5x both venues
Basil Hawkins (CS 2023 Top Players Pack) $9,998.99 $1,160 (0.12x) $2,465 (0.25x) ask 4x both venues

Fifteen of the 25 highest TCGplayer asks in One Piece fail this screen. That ratio has been stable for three editions and is the single best argument for never quoting a top-cards list off one venue.

Which One Piece cards gained and lost the most?

Corroborated 30-day movers, TCGplayer market price above $500, as of September 1, 2026:

Card Set Price 30-day Confirmed by
Monkey.D.Luffy (119) SP Gold A Fist of Divine Speed $13,000 +205.9% eBay $9,100
Foxy (SP) Anime 25th Collection $784.99 +73.6% eBay $784.99
Nami (Whole Cake Island Arc) Unnumbered Promos $1,197.95 +42.7% eBay $1,099
Charlotte Pudding (Championship 2024) Special Tournament Promos $698.50 +39.1% CM €556
Boa Hancock (SP) Kingdoms of Intrigue $1,350 +37.3% both
Roronoa Zoro (001) Parallel Romance Dawn $800 +36.4% both
Monkey.D.Dragon (SP) Anime 25th Collection $1,100 +33.1% eBay $1,100
San-Gorou (Treasure Cup 2025) Special Tournament Promos $949.88 +31.0% CM €848

Two large gainers are excluded: Tony Tony.Chopper (Offline Regional 2024 Vol. 3) at $998.99 (+101.8%) prints 0.52x on Cardmarket and 0.25x in eBay sales, and Monkey.D.Luffy (001) at $1,350 (+40.5%) prints 0.68x and 0.45x. Both are relistings, not repricings.

Corroborated fallers:

Card Price 30-day Confirmed by
Sanji (Treasure Cup 2025) $2,499.99 −72.0% eBay $2,499.99
Sabo (Alt Art) (Manga) $600 −28.3% eBay $566
Sakazuki (Manga) $945 −22.8% eBay $945
Monkey.D.Luffy (1st Anniversary Set) $1,185 −17.6% CM €866
Silvers Rayleigh (Parallel) (Manga) $500 −16.1% eBay $461

Sakazuki is worth flagging: it was one of the three Manga rares carrying OP16's box EV last month, and it is down 22.8% with the eBay sold price agreeing to the dollar.

Did last month's stale-floor cards close their gaps?

This is the call August got wrong, and it is the most instructive part of this edition. Last month we listed three cards whose TCGplayer price sat far below their Cardmarket and eBay figures, and predicted the ask would catch up to sales that had already happened. All three gaps have now closed or held — but only one closed the way we said:

Card Aug 1 ask Aug 1 eBay sold Sep 1 ask Sep 1 eBay sold How it resolved
Monkey.D.Luffy (119) SP Gold $4,250 $10,500 $13,000 $9,100 Ask rose 206% and overshot the sale by 43%
Monkey.D.Luffy (Super Pre-Release, Winner) $3,645 $7,900 $3,645 $3,750 Sale fell 53% to meet the unchanged ask
Monkey.D.Luffy (119) Alt Art Manga $5,700 $8,700 $5,700 $8,699 Neither side moved

One in three. The lesson we are taking forward, and applying to our own tables: an ask-versus-sold gap tells you the two numbers disagree, not which one is wrong. It closes from whichever side had less evidence behind it, and a single sold price is not more evidence than a single ask. The +205.9% gainer topping this month's list is the same card — its rise is a listing catching up to old transactions, and it has now passed them.

What is happening with One Piece sealed prices?

The vintage sealed ceiling kept falling, and this time the tier below followed it. As of September 1, 2026:

Sealed product TCGplayer Cardmarket vs Aug 1
1st Anniversary Set (English Version) $5,110.64 €5,127.42 flat
Romance Dawn (Pre-Errata) box $4,960.70 €3,899.36 −11.8%
English Version 2nd Anniversary Set $1,524.07 €1,413.44 flat
Romance Dawn (white-bottom) box $1,468.78 €1,199.84 −6.4%
Awakening of the New Era (OP05) box $1,087.56 €771.81 −7.5%

August called this "one correction of the ceiling, no follow-through underneath — consistent with a market that is cooling, not turning." The follow-through arrived: pre-errata Romance Dawn is down another 11.8% and has lost the #1 sealed slot to the 1st Anniversary Set, with the white-bottom box and OP05 both down 6–8%. That reads as turning, not cooling, and we were wrong to distinguish them a month early.

Current OP-17 sealed prices tell their own story. The box ran $331.67 on August 18 up to a $408.41 peak on August 23, then fell to a $323.56 trough on street date itself — a 20.8% round trip inside five days — and has sat between $336 and $339 for four nights since. Cardmarket has fallen steadily to €328.12 and frozen there for two nights. Converted, Cardmarket now prints $380.48 against TCGplayer's $338.85: Europe is paying a 12.3% premium for OP-17 boxes. Cases run $4,145.11 on TCGplayer, a 1.9% premium over twelve boxes bought singly — the case discount that normally exists has not returned since we flagged its disappearance on street date.

Why we are still not publishing an OP-17 Box EV

Cardlogs Box EV is the expected value of opening one booster box at current singles prices, recomputed nightly per source. We have withheld the OP-17 figure since street date, and this month's data is why.

Our TCGplayer-side Box EV for OP-17 printed $127.83 on August 30, $164.59 on August 31, and $160.87 on September 1 — a 28.8% jump in a single overnight run, on a set whose singles were falling the whole time. The Cardmarket-side figure over the same three nights moved 0.4%. A number that behaves like that is measuring our own coverage catching up, not the market, and we will not print it until it settles.

For context, here is what the model says for sets we do trust, as of September 1, 2026:

Set Box price (TCG) Cardlogs Box EV EV / price Aug 1
The Time of Battle (OP16) $207.55 $279.69 135% 205%
Adventure on KAMI's Island (OP15) $250.23 $294.87 118% 149%
A Fist of Divine Speed (OP11) $618.72 $546.70 88% 60%
Carrying on His Will (OP13) $478.83 $405.21 85% 96%
The Azure Sea's Seven (OP14) $264.46 $183.54 69% 74%

August's second call was that OP16's 205% EV window "does not persist — either the box repricing upward or the singles ladder coming down will close it, and the direction it closes from tells you whether the set's chase demand is real." It closed to 135% in one month, and it closed entirely from the singles side: the box moved $206.86 to $207.55, while the EV fell 33.9%. The chase demand was not real. OP16 is still the best EV in the game, and it is worth 34% less than it was.

Is grading One Piece cards worth it in September 2026?

Less than last month, and the reason is unusual: raw prices held while slabs fell. PSA 10 against raw TCGplayer, corroborated cards only, with last month's multiple for comparison:

Card Raw PSA 10 Multiple Aug 1
Monkey.D.Luffy (OP05-060) SP $4,250 $19,192 4.5x 4.7x
Gol.D.Roger (Manga) $5,500 $17,045 3.1x 3.5x
Monkey.D.Luffy ST01-001 (Serial) $19,999 $61,852 3.1x 3.1x
Monkey.D.Luffy (PRB02-005) $8,899 $17,400 2.0x 2.0x
Monkey.D.Luffy (118) Red Super Alt Art $19,999 $32,224 1.6x 1.8x
Boa Hancock (SP) $6,970 $8,355 1.2x 1.4x

Every raw price in that table is unchanged from August 1. Five of the six PSA 10 prices fell — Boa Hancock's slab lost 14%, Gol.D.Roger's lost 11%, the Red Super Alt Art's lost 12%. Grading premiums compressing while raw prices sit still is what you would expect if slab buyers stepped back first, which is consistent with the frozen top end described above. Cardlogs pairs each card with PSA and BGS population data — check how many 10s already exist before paying to add one.

What should One Piece collectors watch in September 2026?

Three things, each falsifiable by the October edition.

First, where OP-17 singles find a floor. The median fell 42.9% in a week; sets typically undershoot before settling, and OP-16's post-release trough came about four weeks after street date. Late September is when that comparison becomes testable.

Second, whether Cardmarket follows. It is the last positive 30-day source at +2.6%, its 7-day read is already negative, and it is simultaneously carrying a 12.3% premium on OP-17 boxes and a 2.0x premium on the set's chase Shanks. If the European leg turns, all three sources are negative for the first time in this series.

Third, whether the frozen top end starts trading again. With 65.1% of $1,000-plus cards printing exactly 0.00% over 30 days, the most informative event of the next month is not a price move — it is a sale. Watch for eBay sold prices appearing on cards that currently have none; that is what will tell you whether these asks are real.

For the same monthly read on other games, see the Fusion World Market Watch and our cross-game growth study. For the full OP-17 set breakdown, see the OP-17 card list and prices guide.

Where this data comes from

Cardlogs aggregates One Piece TCG prices nightly from TCGplayer, Cardmarket and eBay sold listings (via PriceCharting) — 7,036 cards priced on TCGplayer, 12,034 on Cardmarket and 8,319 on eBay sold data as of August 31, 2026 — plus PSA and BGS graded prices and population data. Ranked tables are corroboration-screened: a card takes a headline slot only when a second marketplace (Cardmarket at the day's ECB rate, or the eBay sold median) prints within 30% of its TCGplayer price, and failing cards are shown with their gaps rather than hidden.

The market cap and index figures count only cards priced on each source, so per-source coverage differs and the caps are not comparable as absolute totals. The chain-linked Cardlogs Market Cap Index is the movement metric: each day's change is computed only on cards priced on both days, so a new set expands the cap but never registers as growth. Breadth figures (median, share up, share unchanged) are computed across every card priced above $1 with a 30-day delta, which is the honest counterweight to any top-gainers list.

Every card and set in this article is tracked live — prices, deltas, graded comps and populations — free at cardlogs.com/optcg/home and in the Cardlogs iOS and Android apps.

Frequently asked questions

Is the One Piece TCG market going down in September 2026?

Yes, on most measures. According to Cardlogs market data, the One Piece TCG Market Cap Index fell 1.4% on TCGplayer and 5.6% on eBay sold prices in the 30 days to August 31, 2026, with only Cardmarket positive at +2.6%. The typical card priced above $1 fell 4.9% over the same 30 days.

Why did OP-17 card prices crash after release?

Preorder scarcity ended. According to Cardlogs market data, the median OP-17 single fell 42.9% in the seven days to August 31, 2026, with 187 of 213 tracked cards down. Sealed supply hitting shelves on the August 28 street date replaced a thin preorder market, and the alternate-art Kaido (OP17-062) fell from $79.74 to $20.00 in nine days.

What is the most expensive One Piece card right now?

Two cards tie at $19,999 as of September 1, 2026: the serial-numbered Monkey.D.Luffy (ST01-001), backed by a $17,700 eBay sold price, and the Manga-rare Monkey.D.Luffy (OP13-118) Red Super Alternate Art, backed by 23,228 euro on Cardmarket and $17,764 in eBay sales. The serial-numbered Roronoa Zoro lists higher at $35,101 but no second venue confirms it.

Is it worth grading One Piece cards in September 2026?

Less than last month. As of September 1, 2026, raw prices on the corroborated chase cards were flat while five of six PSA 10 prices fell — Gol.D.Roger (Manga) went from a 3.5x multiple to 3.1x and Boa Hancock (SP) from 1.4x to 1.2x. The premium for a slab is compressing, so check the population and the current multiple before paying to grade.
